Wonders of Water Sleepover

Wow is right! What a great night! :) The girls were SO good, I would definitely do this again. Plus, we just had a great trial night for camping...mark your calendars for the weekend of March 13th-15th. We are going!!!

This was the first journey that we have done in Girl Scouts. It was called Wonders of Water-It's Your Planet-Love it!
There were 4 parts to the journey:
1) LOVE Water-encourages girls to become aware of the many ways they use and enjoy water. We also talked about why water is so important!
2) SAVE Water-educates girls on how to protect water and keep it clean and helps them develop a plan to save water in their community.
3) SHARE Water-inspires others in the community to commit to save water.
4) WOW!-displays proof their Share Water efforts.

This is what we did:
1) LOVE Water-we wrote what we know and love about water on raindrops and created this poster-

We also researched all about water-how much we use, how much we need, etc. We learned that only 3 % of water on Earth is fresh water and NOT frozen in the North and South poles! That's not alot!

Here are some great links to graphics for you to peruse as well:

2) All of this lead us to research ways we can SAVE Water!

Mrs. Branch helped us research online-here is what we looked at:

Then we made personal promises to protect water on raindrops and made this poster-

After that, we made and ate dinner :).

We also discussed COOKIES! We earned these 3 badges (read the pictures to see what we talked about).

We also made REALLY yummy cookies ourselves!

Finally, Ms. Haley let us PLAY!!! :)

But, she also made us sleep :(

We watched "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids". SO fun!

When we woke, we made pancakes and finished part of our journey!

3) In order to SHARE Water, we wrote out the script for a video that we are going to make to show to the students at CAES. We will do this on our February meeting. Here it is:

·      Hi! We are Brownie Girl Scout Troop #733 and we are working on our Wonders of Water journey.
·      We need 5 gallons of water to drink, cook, and wash a day and we use way more than that-100 gallons. (Allison)
·      Most of the water on earth is salt water and the other fresh water is on the North and South poles and it’s frozen! That’s a problem. (Caitlyn)
·      If we don’t start saving water, we can run out! We don’t want to drink dirty water that could make us sick. (Abigail)
·      To start saving water we want you all to do the following things at school: (
·      1) only pump the faucet once or twice (Kathleen)
·      2) stop playing with the water in the water fountains (Joeli)
·      3) take the water challenge-only drink water for 2 weeks in a reusable bottle (
·      You need to respect the whole earth and each other, even water!  (Laura)

 4) Once we've shared the video with the school, we will have the classes sign a water promise to help save water and then publish the video on the blog as part of WOW!

Saying our pledge...

AWESOME! :)
